Labor Relations Bargaining Updates

Please visit this page periodically for updates regarding the current negotiations between UTLA/TAS CBA which began in November 2023.

The District and SEIU negotiation teams met on March 19, 2024. During this session, the District presented a
proposal that included the following articles:
● Term – Through June 30, 2026
● Salary (Article IV)
● Longevity Bonus (Article IV)
● Paid Time Off (Article VI)
● Holidays (Article VI)
● Bereavement Leave (Article VI)
● Tuition Reimbursement (New Article)
● Health Benefits (Article V)
● Retirement 403(b) TAS discussed and provided information on the existing 403(b) retirement plan that
are available to employees.
The next scheduled negotiation session is for March 25, 2024.

March 18, 2024 (UTLA/TAS CBA Negotiations Update)
The Accelerated Schools (TAS) and the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) teams met for
negotiations on March 18, 2024.

During the session, the UTLA presented several proposals in the following articles:
Article V: Professional Development, Article XVII: Union Rights, Article III: Work Year and
Article VI: Safety. Both teams were able to reach a tentative agreement on the Safety article.

After the March 18 session, discussions regarding Article III: Work Year continued.
Tentative agreement was reached on Work Year on March 22, 2024.

 

 

We are extremely pleased to share that The Accelerates Schools and UTLA have reached a tentative agreement on the economic/cost items for a successor collective bargaining agreement for a 3-year CBA through June 30, 2027. Click here for Joint Communique.

The TAS and SEIU bargaining teams met for negotiations on Monday, February 12, 2024. Preliminary discussion took place in the following items of the CBA: Article VI. Leaves, Article IX. Employment and Termination of Employment and Article XI. Union Rights and Security. Both teams are scheduled to meet next on Monday, February 26, 2024. 

The TAS and UTLA bargaining teams met for negotiations on Monday, February 5, 2024. Productive dialogue continued around Article III Work Year and Article XIV Health Benefits. Proposals were exchanged by both parties. Our next negotiation date is scheduled for Thursday, February 29, 2024.

The TAS and UTLA bargaining teams met for negotiations on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Both teams exchanged proposals that included areas and topics under Article XII, Leaves, Article XIII, Compensation, and Article XIV, Health Benefits. Both TAS and UTLA had productive dialogue on terms of a competitive package proposal. Our next negotiation date is scheduled for February 5, 2024.

The TAS and UTLA bargaining teams met for negotiations on Monday, January 22, 2024. Both teams continued discussion on Article XIII, Compensation. UTLA presented one proposal on Article X: Retirement. Our next negotiation date is scheduled for January 30, 2024.

The TAS and UTLA bargaining teams met for negotiations on Thursday, January 11, 2024. UTLA presented proposals for Article XII: Leaves and Article III: Work Year. Our next negotiation date is scheduled for January 22, 2024.

The TAS and SEIU bargaining teams met for negotiations on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Both teams reviewed the status of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, and reviewed the anticipated term for the current sunshine proposal. Future negotiation dates were scheduled for February 12 and February 26, 2024.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, the TAS and UTLA bargaining teams met for negotiations. TAS presented one comprehensive proposal that addressed items under Article XII Leaves and Article XIII, Salary. UTLA presented one proposal for Article XIII Compensation. Our next negotiation date is scheduled for January 11, 2024.

On Friday, December 8, 2023, the TAS and UTLA bargaining teams met for negotiations. UTLA presented two proposals; Article III: Work Year and a compensation-related proposal regarding a salary table and stipend proposal. Our next negotiation date is scheduled for January 3, 2024.

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, the TAS and UTLA bargaining teams met for the first session of successor CBA negotiations. The teams discussed meeting ground rules, communication, and prior MOUs/side letters. UTLA reviewed all Sunshine Articles and presented two proposals on Article XIV: Benefits and Article XII: Leaves. TAS will provide updates in response to the information presented. The teams are scheduled to next meet on December 8. Subsequent meeting dates were scheduled for January 3, 11 and 22.
